Girls Youth Volleyball Camp

Adel Park and Recreation is taking registrations for a Youth Volleyball Camp for girls entering grades 4-8. The camp is on Wednesdays and Fridays in July and early August. Grades 4-5 are 8:30-10 a.m. and grades grade 6-8 are 10-11:30 a.m. The camp is held at the Adel Old Middle School Gym. The cost is $50 and includes your 2013 camp t-shirt. Registration can be done at Adel City Hall or you may download a registration form by visiting www.adeliowa.org For more information call 993-4525.

Dallas County Conservation will be here for Story Time on Wednesday, June 19 at 2 p.m. A naturalist will bring digs to life with the use of stories, pictures, artifacts and activities.

Teens who are participating in our Groundbreaking Reads summer reading program are invited to our smoothie and a movie party on Thursday, June 20 at 2 p.m. We’ll be watching the movie “Beautiful Creatures” and having smoothies.

This week’s Friday Film will be “The Lorax.” We’ll be watching the film on the big screen at 2 p.m.

Attention Minburn Elmwood Cemetery Admirers

The violent weather of Memorial Day 2013 bent the aluminum poles and destroyed most of the flags waving in the wind at Minburn’s Elmwood Cemetery. As a project of the Minburn Woman’s Club, donations for replacements would be greatly appreciated so the Ave. of the Flags could fly once again for Memorial Day 2014. ISU Extension and Outreach Summer Camp

Would you like to attend a camp this summer? Maybe you would like to send your son, daughter or grandchild to the type of camp you enjoyed when you were growing up. Dallas County 4-H is working with Madison, Polk and Warren counties to offer a camping experience for all youth in grades 1-9. Campers do not need to be in 4-H to attend. “Taste of Camp” will be held at the State 4-H Center, near Madrid from July 31-August 3. Campers will have the opportunity to meet youth from surrounding counties and build new friendships. They will enjoy many activities including a zip line, swimming, hiking, games and crafts as well as cooking over a campfire. Campers will stay in air-conditioned cabins with kids near their own age. There are also openings for youth who are in grades 10-12 or adults who are interested in helping at the camp.
